Feedback from patients and referrers assures you of the quality of treatment and expertise we provide

“I have worked with Claire since 2005, sending her many of my more complex shoulder patients.

Her experience and specialised training in nerve and muscle disorders has put her in the forefront of managing complex nerve problems of the shoulder and arm. In addition to this, she has also treated many of my other patients and athletes with all types of shoulder problems.

The expertise and experience she brings has been a massive boost for these patients. Claire has worked incredibly hard for her patients and the feedback I get from them is fantastic.

She keeps me updated on patients and contacts me immediately when she has any concerns. I look forward to continuing to work closely with Claire and cannot recommend her highly enough for shoulder and upper limb rehabilitation.”

“I am a rehabilitation case manager and referred a client to Claire with complex lower limb injuries, I found Claire to be highly professional, extremely knowledgeable, always willing to provide advice and extra support. Claire’s reports were always delivered on time, clear and very comprehensive. I would most definitely refer to Claire again and have no hesitation in recommending Claire to other case managers.”

“I have worked with Claire Downs in supporting a number of my clients who have sustained significant nerve injuries. I have been highly impressed by the level of skill, understanding and enthusiasm which Claire has brought to her physiotherapy treatment which my clients so desperately need. She is able to incorporate functional physiotherapy to her treatment sessions which helps the client engage in their rehabilitation and so they can see the gains they are making, through their hard work.”

“Claire provides a highly organised service with regular treatment updates and timely reporting. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Nerve Injury Clinic to my clients, family or friends.”

Rachel Gannon

Case Manager, Rehab Without Walls

“I am a rehabilitation case manager and met Claire through an online training session in early 2020 at the start of the covid lockdown. Claire’s knowledge and ability to explain complex things simply stood out to me and I was excited to be able to add Claire and her expertise to my list of go to clinicians.

It is now three years since I met Claire and I have had several clients benefit from Claire’s bespoke holistic assessment and treatment over these years. Claire has supported my clients online, in clinic and attending specialist community appointments, where Claire is able to share her clinical expertise ensuring the best treatments and investigations are sourced for my clients. Claire is highly professional, flexible and very responsive and reliable. The nerve injury clinic is very easy to travel to by car or public transport, it is a fabulous clinical space to receive professional and confidential consultations and treatments.

My clients have also benefitted from treatment with other members of the Nerve Injury Clinic team, including MSK physio with Katy, orthotics with Andy and yoga with Claire.

I feel so lucky to have found Claire and her team. My clients have consistently reported high levels of satisfaction of both the professional treatment they have received and the functional results from the treatment. I have one client who refers to Claire as his ‘knee angel’.”

Sonia Campbell-Thompson

Case Manager, Unite Professionals

“Claire was recommended to me during the pandemic when I required a specialist physiotherapy for a client with significant upper limb nerve injuries following an accident at work. A lack of local physiotherapy provision exacerbated by the COVID lock down required me to look further afield. Claire was able to harness technology and virtual platforms to overcome the barriers of the pandemic and distance from the client.

Claire’s flexible and adaptable approach enabled a thorough assessment and intervention which guided functional recovery for my client.

Claire formed an integral part of the multidisciplinary team for my client. She is professional, highly knowledgeable, and experienced. She considers the client’s holistic needs and her recommendations for further intervention and equipment were measured and appropriate. Her sound clinical reasoning enabled me as case manager to put forward recommendations confidently for approval of funding.

Claire has a calming yet assertive presence – she has a no nonsense approach which achieves results and enables clients to be supported but encouraged to take responsibility for their rehabilitation.

I would not hesitate to recommend Claire and look forward to working with her again.”

“I’ve been visiting the Nerve Injury Clinic virtually every week since my accident in Aug 2014, and I cannot speak highly enough of the treatment I’ve received. The physical aspect of the physio is obviously so important and is handled so well by Claire, but what makes it extra special is that you can tell that she actually cares for her patients and really wants to help, which makes your time feel like it’s time well spent. It’s been a tough, life changing 6 years for me, and although life goes on, I honestly don’t know where I’d be today without the help I’ve received here from Claire. She’s a special person and I can’t thank her enough for the help and care she has given me.”
“Claire has provided individual, adaptive and supportive treatment specific to my variable dystonia condition. I rely on these weekly sessions to sustain my level of mobility. A senior NHS physiotherapist assessed my conditions as being too complex and explained that the NHS would be unable to offer the exceptional treatment I was already receiving from my neurophysiotherapist. Claire had generously provided all of her case notes, without hesitation, in order to assist with the assessment. In addition to the sessions, Claire offers an exercise program for me to continue at home to help make the treatment more effective. Without her treatment I would now be in a wheelchair. Claire has been my physiotherapist for a number of years and I have always found her to be highly professional, caring and thorough. She is astute in her diagnosis of my condition which can change on a weekly basis and can be extremely challenging. I will continue to rely on her knowledge and expertise in the treatment of my condition and would not hesitate to highly recommend her clinic.”
“In 2014 I suffered a spinal stroke during surgery. I was left unable to walk, with very limited sensation in my lower limbs. After several weeks in hospital I was discharged home, in a wheelchair, with a very uncertain prognosis for recovery. The Nerve Injury Clinic was recommended to my consultant and healthcare provider to help with my rehabilitation. Everything I had taken for granted had to be re-learned. Over time, with Claire’s help, I was able to walk (in my own way) with sticks. Whilst I still need regular appointments to maintain my mobility and treat my ongoing neuro issues I can’t thank Claire enough for helping me to achieve what seemed impossible at the time. On a personal level Claire is warm, friendly and extremely professional.”
“Claire has been one of the most important parts of my rehabilitation since having a very unexpected stroke at 29 years old. In so many ways she has saved my life by getting me back on my feet and almost back to my old self. Her experience and professionalism shine through in every session. She is a total Godsend.”

“I wanted to drop you a note to say thank you very much for the sessions we had. You were honestly exactly what I needed to get through this diagnosis. When I first went the doctors I felt they didn’t really explain to me what it was and what the side effects were, all I wanted was to gain some understanding on what it was I had and have some clear direction.

You did exactly that, you were clear with what you could help me with, you were understanding and I felt like you knew what I was going through and that mentally helped me so much. It’s hard to speak to family and friends as they don’t fully understand what you’re going through and I think the mental side effects are sometimes as hard as the physical and you were a massive part of my journey of getting through that side as well. You made sure I put all my energy into recovery which I definitely needed telling otherwise I don’t think I would be at the stage I am at now. You knew I liked a to do list so would make sure you would give me one each time which was really helpful with my progression.

I know I still have a little bit to go but I am so happy with my progress and never thought I would be at the stage so quickly. Honestly thanks so much for all your help and support I don’t think I would be in this position if I just went to the doctors and didn’t see you”

“The treatment I have received from Claire Downs has been essentially life-changing. The cause of my difficulties was treated with knowledge and huge professionalism. As a result, every aspect of my presentation has improved, and especially my mobility and pain. I am so grateful to her for all she has done.”

“Kellie is a gem! She relates really well and with care and empathy to all of us in the exercise class. The level of the class is spot on, given the variety of needs.”

“I can’t speak highly enough of Claire Downs and The Nerve Injury Clinic. Claire treated me successfully for two different problems- a post surgical facial nerve injury and a lower back problem. I am so grateful for Claire’s expert knowledge, professionalism and practical advice, which enabled me to make such good progress and has fully restored my smile. I couldn’t have wished for more.”

“The clinic is great- easy to get there (right next to the Metro) and the premises are lovely with easy access and large airy consulting rooms.”

“I want to thank you for your brilliant treatment, but also your kindness, reassurance and for listening so well. I have just returned to jogging- I never could have imagined doing this a year ago. If I am in need of further physiotherapy, you will be the first person I call.”

“Thanks so much for all of your help- I am so happy with how much better my hands are now!”

“Thanks for the excellent care, treatment and words of advice- and the laughter!”

“Thank you for all your help in getting me fixed. It has given me my confidence and independence back and I will always be grateful.”

“I finally got married! You were a massive part of my journey getting to the proposal and wedding due to Bell’s palsy happening just before it all. I am so happy with the results and how far I have come. I can’t thank you enough.”
