Claire Pickin
Yoga Instructor
Claire joined The Nerve Injury Clinic in 2022 and has been a Hatha Yoga teacher since 2007, greatly influenced by her mother who is also a yoga teacher with 40 years teaching experience.Â
She is qualified as an Advanced Yoga Teacher with The British School of Yoga and has completed many courses to deepen her understanding of the practice. She is also a member of the Independent Yoga Network.
Her method is very much person-centred and works to bring the whole system into balance through gentle breathwork and slow mindful movements. She has completed many courses focusing on how the postures of yoga influence the nervous system and how we can use the practice for chronic pain, stress and anxiety management and learn to move in a healing and effective way.Â
Over the past 15 years Claire has taught yoga to toddlers, school children, seniors, and everyone in between. Her style adapts and adjusts movements and postures for any level. She has been teaching a chair yoga class for 10 years, so is experienced in providing alternative movements and postures to suit most abilities.Â
At The Nerve Injury Clinic, Claire sees patients for one to one therapeutic yoga sessions, complimenting their neurological physiotherapy.Â
Outside of yoga, Claire enjoys running, walking her dog and completing jigsaws with her family- the harder the better!

Melinda Sallaway-Royle I was recommended to see Claire Downs in July 2022 by the Neurogist Prof. Mark Roberts after I had been suffering with Peripheral Neuropathy for a while. Due to the nature of nerve pain, treament is a slow progress but with time I have felt a dramatic improvement in my nerve pain around my left ankle. I believe this is down to Claire’s specialised knowledge and expertise of how to deal with nerve pain, as my ankle was found to be very sensitive to small changes of movement. I can highly recommend The Nerve Injury Clinic to anybody suffering with nerve pain. Paul Thank goodness I found the Nerve Injury Clinic. I have a long term Cervical Spine issue and post surgery things were still going downhill. It is so much more than a Physiotherapy practice. Claire has been able to manage my situation which has allowed me to continue to do some things. She is knowledgeable, professional and personable. It's worth a chat, if you feel they may help. Dan Smith This place has been a god send for me. I didn't believe I would recover to the extent I have without them. Claire the owner has been great at understanding my issues and helping with the stimulator to get my nerve feelings back. Kelly and Katie are very different in their rehab approach but both are very affective helping me regain strength balance and movement. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Rob Lyons I had nerve pain in my hand for months and saw Katy, it felt better after 2 sessions following her advice Steve Jones Had shoulder problem for 6 months and now better.Google rating score: 5.0 of 5, based on 5 reviews
