Andy Budgen
Orthotist
Andy and Claire have worked together for many years and Andy has seen patients at The Nerve Injury Clinic since 2013. He qualified as an orthotist in 1997 from Salford University with a BSc Hons in Prosthetics and Orthotics and chose to specialise in orthotics. He has worked in NHS orthotics clinics for over 25 years in the Northwest of England. Â
Andy’s particular interests are in gait analysis and complex presentations. He enjoys seeing patients with the physiotherapists at The Nerve Injury Clinic and problem-solving patients with complex neurological and musculoskeletal difficulties. He assesses patients for shoulder and wrist supports, knee and ankle braces as well as functional foot orthoses (bespoke insoles to you and me!). These orthotic devices have a huge effect on pain, posture and movement, enabling patients to function more effectively. He has an extensive knowledge of orthotic products from his varied experience.Â
In the NHS he runs clinics for diabetics, paediatrics, neurology and musculoskeletal services.Â
When he isn’t working, Andy is passionate about fishing and also enjoys gym training and watching boxing.Â
