Vestibular Rehabilitation
Vestibular Rehabilitation is a specialised form of physiotherapy designed to alleviate problems caused by vestibular disorders, which affect the inner ear and brain areas responsible for balance, coordination, and eye movement. The goal of vestibular rehabilitation is to improve balance, reduce dizziness, and enhance the patient’s overall ability to function in their daily activities.
Patients at The Nerve Injury Clinic can receive vestibular rehabilitation as part of their neurological physiotherapy treatment. Following a thorough assessment, patients may be given customised exercises, such as habituation, gaze stabilisation or balance exercises. All patients receive individualised information on techniques to reduce symptoms during daily activities. In some cases, hands-on techniques are used to correct specific vestibular dysfunctions, such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).
