Orthotics
The Nerve Injury Clinic provides an orthotics service for patients receiving physiotherapy. Our experienced orthotist, Andy Budgen, commonly sees patients for assessment and provision of
- Shoe inserts (functional foot orthoses) that improve the foot, ankle and leg alignment. They can help alleviate pain or discomfort related to various foot, leg, or back problems. The patient is assessed, an impression of the foot is taken and bespoke inserts are then made and fitted to the patient. Specific advice regarding their use is given to the patient.
- Ankle- foot orthoses (AFOs) for foot drop. Andy has a wealth of knowledge on the different types of AFOs on the market and can advise on and provide the correct one for each patient.
- Shoulder braces for brachial plexus patients to improve shoulder alignment, reduce pain and increase function.
- Wrist splints, again to improve joint alignment, reduce strain through specific soft tissues and relieve pain.

Melinda Sallaway-Royle I was recommended to see Claire Downs in July 2022 by the Neurogist Prof. Mark Roberts after I had been suffering with Peripheral Neuropathy for a while. Due to the nature of nerve pain, treament is a slow progress but with time I have felt a dramatic improvement in my nerve pain around my left ankle. I believe this is down to Claire’s specialised knowledge and expertise of how to deal with nerve pain, as my ankle was found to be very sensitive to small changes of movement. I can highly recommend The Nerve Injury Clinic to anybody suffering with nerve pain. Paul Thank goodness I found the Nerve Injury Clinic. I have a long term Cervical Spine issue and post surgery things were still going downhill. It is so much more than a Physiotherapy practice. Claire has been able to manage my situation which has allowed me to continue to do some things. She is knowledgeable, professional and personable. It's worth a chat, if you feel they may help. Dan Smith This place has been a god send for me. I didn't believe I would recover to the extent I have without them. Claire the owner has been great at understanding my issues and helping with the stimulator to get my nerve feelings back. Kelly and Katie are very different in their rehab approach but both are very affective helping me regain strength balance and movement. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Rob Lyons I had nerve pain in my hand for months and saw Katy, it felt better after 2 sessions following her advice Steve Jones Had shoulder problem for 6 months and now better.Google rating score: 5.0 of 5, based on 5 reviews
