Assistive Technology

Assistive technology plays a significant role in neurological physiotherapy by supporting patients who have neurological impairments. At The Nerve Injury Clinic, we use equipment and assistive technology to compliment neurological physiotherapy to enhance rehabilitation outcomes.

We have a TheraTrainer Mobi which is a motor assisted cycling trainer for legs and upper body. The clinic has extensive equipment for enhancing recovery, such as rocker boards, weights, gym balls, sports tape, trampette, hand recovery devices etc.

We frequently use EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) devices on low frequencies, for patients with peripheral nerve injuries. Patients then use the stimulator on a daily basis at home to aid their recovery. Patients travel from all over the UK to see us for our expertise on EMS and nerve injuries, which can significantly increase the rate and amount of improvement they make. Every patient is assessed for their suitability for EMS and then, if appropriate, they are shown how to use one: where to put the pads, what program to use it on and how long to use it for. EMS devices are a cost effective way of maximising recovery.
