Helping the people of Manchester and beyond get out of pain and back to everything they want to do. This month we are celebrating making it to double digits as our practice turns 10 years old!
This year we are celebrating 10 years of physiotherapy and supporting patients far and wide out of injury and through chronic illnesses.
Although we’ve been providing physiotherapy services to the people of Manchester for much longer than this in our individual careers, opening our clinic in 2013 was a big milestone for us.
Our practice began as a part-time venture for founder and expert specialist physiotherapist Claire Downs, who was also working part time delivering general neuro physio work.
As the practice grew, 2 years in saw Claire move to working full time at The Nerve Injury Clinic and moving into her first independent premises in Sale in 2015.
As her reputation and practice grew, Claire has been invited to speak as an expert at many events, such as being a guest lecturer at Leeds Becket University in 2017 and the Royal Society of Medicine, where she organised an ACPIN study day specifically on Peripheral Nerve Injuries. Claire also contributed to a chapter on Peripheral Nerve Injuries in “Early Rehabilitation during Conflicts and Sudden Onset Disasters” for Humanity Inclusion charity.
2017 saw Claire running her first of many charity runs, completing 10k for the Spinal Injuries Association, followed in 2018 by running 10k for Dystonia UK and completing the Manchester 10k this month (May 2023) for Age UK.
As the pandemic hit the clinic shifted to offering virtual appointments, but business continued to grow as did the team of experts working with Claire at the clinic, supported by Marketing Consultant Jayne Kennedy who helped with a new website and branding/communications strategy to keep patients informed and enabled the practice to develop.
The growing team meant that in 2021 larger premises were required and the team moved to its current home Brooklands Place. Katy Herbert (physiotherapist), Yvette Sanderson (Yoga Instructor) and Andy Budgen (Orthotist) all started working at the Nerve Injury Clinic too.
By 2022 the team continued to expand with Kellie Pike joining as a specialist neurological physiotherapist and Claire Pickin joining as another yoga instructor.
2023 so far has seen the practice go from strength to strength and in May the team celebrated the 10th birthday of the clinic, which now offers a fully comprehensive specialist physiotherapy, orthotics and rehabilitative yoga service to patients from Manchester and beyond.
Claire said “I’m extremely proud of what we have achieved, and grateful to all my team for their hard-work, dedication and desire to always look to improve, train and develop the service we provide our patients.”
